Excellent news for independent radio stations come from both sides of the Atlantic. In USA, Pdt Obama has signed the “Local Radio Community Act”, while in France, “Les Indés Radios” are reaching unexpected heights in revenue and in ratings.
Ford announced on Wednesday that it is bringing iHeartRadio to its vehicle lineup, allowing drivers to access the popular radio service via voice commands.
Ford will be the first auto company to offer cars access to iHeartRadio, featuring more than 800 of the top broadcast and digital-only stations in the U.S.
By using Ford SYNC AppLink – which gives drivers hands-free voice control capability of smartphone apps – users will be able to listen to various radio stations by accessing steering wheel-mounted controls or SYNC’s voice commands. The driver can create a custom station, stop and start a song playing on a local iHeartRadio station and find traffic reports based on location via the phone’s GPS system.
For example, drivers can say “genre,” “city” or “personality” to search by type of GPS, location of station or host. The app also connects with Facebook Timeline, which allows users to share music with friends.
Radio Disney Junior, a music block designed for kids age 2-7, will debut Monday in USA (12:00 noon-1:00 p.m., ET) on Radio Disney, coinciding with the launch of Disney Junior on Disney Channel and Disney.com. Its new Radio Disney Junior block will feature an expanded roster of music and artists appealing to young kids, plus fun “audio theater” with Disney Junior characters.
Bauer Radio has pulled the plugs on its ‘Magic’ brand from the DAB platform in Aberdeen, Ayr, Birmingham, Bradford & Huddersfield, Cambridge, Dundee & Perth, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Kent, Northern Ireland, Norwich, Peterborough, Stoke, Sussex Coast, Swansea. Do I really need to comment ? :-)
